Remote Strike! Send your climate selfies!

The 50th anniversary of Earth Day is next week! We can’t demonstrate in person due to the coronavirus, but we can do it online.

Here in Florida, dozens of community groups are participating in Remote Climate Strike which will take the form of a photo collage and banner in the shape of the state of Florida to be shared with statewide media on Earth Day, Wednesday April 22. We have collectively created a coalition of amazing activists and progressive groups coming together despite the circumstances and showing climate action solidarity!

The larger image will be composed of thousands of individual photos of people holding their own climate strike signs, collectively representing a REMOTE STRIKE

Here’s how the #ClimateChallenge works:

  1. Imagine you are going to an in person climate strike and make a sign with your message to our political and business leaders demanding swift action on climate!
  2. ake a selfie of you with your sign!  This works best if you have someone else take your photo, or you can use the timer function on your phone.
  3. Upload it to your social media accounts with the hashtags: #ClimateChallenge, #FloridaClimateAction,  #ClimateStrikeOnline and get at least 5 of your friends to do the same thing!
  4. Email your selfie to so it can be included in part of our photo collage and banner! (Note: emailing your photo implies that you consent to it being used in our collage or for other promotional purposes)

Here’s a couple of handy images you can use along with your selfies to encourage your friends to take action!  We need thousands of your selfies to make a great collage!

Don’t forget to email your climate selfies to no later than Monday, April 20 to be included in our collage.

And thank you for participating!
